Seed Planet Location: Near the community center of Youtian Village, Baoshan Township This is a work by internationally renowned artist Lin Shunlong, constructed using driftwood and planks. As of June 2024, it had been disassembled and was undergoing partial restoration. There's a staircase leading up, but it no longer appears suitable for climbing. Next to it is a small lawn that could potentially be used for events, estimated to accommodate around 100 people. There's also a tiered platform seating area in front. This is a very small spot, recommended as a side attraction rather than a dedicated visit. However, if you happen to be organizing an event, you might consider a simple outdoor activity.

Today, after work, I passed through Baoshan and stopped by a certain spot in Youtian Village, solely to see that giant wooden sphere. I say "certain spot" because I didn't know what to call it; it's like a park but doesn't have a name, seemingly an area created solely for that wooden sphere. Using navigation, it would take at least half an hour to cycle here from the park, and the place felt very desolate. There were very few cars and even pedestrians nearby, though I did see a few stray dogs. While the strangely shaped wooden sphere is worth seeing, it's a pity there's nothing else to see. Actually, Youtian Village has other attractions, such as the Dapitang Trail, which could be included in a side trip.

There's an installation here from 2016, made from driftwood. The area is spacious with plenty of parking, and there's a lush green lawn in front where you can run and jump. Walking up the wooden steps leads to inside a seed-like structure where you can chat and find peace, or peek through the gaps at the vast world outside. It's a wonderful little space. Be careful not to slip and fall because it's shaky, and watch out for wood shavings. Overall, it's a lovely and fun place!

Sources and ranking basis

This page cross-checks official public information, on-site editorial work, and verifiable traveler interest instead of relying on an old or single ranking list.

  1. Official and public sources: Tourism Administration, MOTC open data , Official Info , 自由時報電子報 , Highway Bureau Provincial Road CCTV , Central Weather Administration . Used to confirm the attraction name, address, official links, transportation notes, and basic travel information.
  2. On-site content: Introductions, FAQs, and transportation details are organized into readable original site content. External reviews are not copied into this page.
  3. Ranking and score: The score uses "official inclusion + traveler interest": official sources help decide whether the attraction belongs on the list, while verified ratings, review volume, one-year and five-year activity changes, search interest, and on-site engagement affect the visible recommendation.
  4. Traveler interest references: Google Maps, Tripadvisor, news reports, and public social discussion may be used only as checkable references. The site records usable statistics, source links, and check dates, but does not copy full reviews or posts.
